    Description

Pre-1926 US Star Steel Silver Calvary Spurs Made in New England
    5" Long x 3.5" Deep
    Original Leather Strap is Missing
These are a pair of handmade Star Steel Silver Cavalry spurs. The Star Steel Silver metal alloy was patented by German immigrant August Buermann. All of his spurs were stamped/ engraved with his trademark "star" symbol.
In 1926, the Buermann company was purchased by one of the big 3 spur manufacturers, North and Judd. North and Judd used an "anchor" as their stamp, and after the purchase, all spurs were stamped with both a "star" and an "anchor" symbol. This pair only has the "star" stamp and thus dates them to pre-1926 and more rare. These are made with a silver/nickel alloy. These are a great Americana collectible.
